This week’s orienteering November 25-December 1st
The May family did well at Sunday’s final Leinster Autumn Series league event at Glendoo: Cian (M14) won the Light Green course (just ahead of Clodagh Moran) while Oisín and Caoimhe finished 1s and 2nd on the Yellow, while there Mam, Una, finished 4th on the Green course. Meamwhile on the 9.7 km Brown course Eoin McCullough finished 2nd and Ger Butler 5th.
Quite a challenging area of turf cuttings which would have been even more challenging if the mist had been down .. but don’t worry: your chance will come, as rumour has it that there will be a night event there soon!
Well done also to Eoin who ran the 3-mile leg 3 for TCD at the Intervarsity Relays at Maynooth on Saturday and to Colm Moran who ran the 2-mile leg 4 for UCD, while the third orienteer, Josh O’Sullivan-Hourihan ran legs 1 and 4 for UCC teams, setting a blistering pace of 4.32 for the opening 1-mile lap.
Surprisingly, the Night-O season is about to start too, with GEN’s “Dublin by Night 1” at Carrickgolligan on Saturday 7th December, the same day as the junior fund-rsiser Campus Sprint event at DCU in Glasnevin. More details of these in next week’s exciting issue of the 3ROC web page!
It’s quiet on the O-fron this weekend unless you want to head north to NWOC’s training event at Downhill forest near Limavady on Saturday or south the BOC’s event at Inchydoney sand dunes in Co. Cork on Sunday. The traditional CNOC Curragh event on the first Sunday of December was early this year so next Sunday is vacant in Leinster.
