This week’s orienteering: January 12-19

Still quiet in Leinster apart from a great run of night events on Saturdays. This weekend, though, we have night-O at Massy’s Estate (across the road from Hellfire Wood) and a local event run by CNOC at Donadea, Co. Kildare  on Sunday. Donadea was used in one of the pioneering night-O events 3ROC ran back in the late 1970’s: probablty the first in Leinster on a proper O-map (earlier ones were on, for example, the OS map of the Phoenix Park), but this time CNOC are making it easier by doing it in daylight.

Donadea is a nice flat forest with a lake, a castle, ducks etc – a grand day out,  as Wallace and Gromit might say. Read more about the event here and see the story of Donadea here.
