This week’s O-News 27 January – 2 February
The night-O season continued with Fingal’s event at Blanchardstown on Saturday night, where our Mary O’Connell again claimed the short course. Courses this week were rather longer than at Massy’s Estate last week: Ruairi Short won the long course in 47 minutes (last week’s winning time was less than half that). Two of the 3ROC Night-O hotshots Colm Moran and Eoin McCullough were running in the three Edinburgh Big Weekend races, so missed the night-O. Their weekend commemorating Robbie Burns involved a night sprint on Friday, an urban race on Saturday and a classic race on Sunday – and lots of haggis. The guys had some good results: Eoin 7th, 7th and 5th; Colm 9th, 9th and 17th.
This week there’s a Leinster secondary schools event on Wednesday 29th at Malahide Castle (helpers welcome), then the Dublin by Night event run by Ajax on a new map of Rockbrook Park School, Rathfarnham on Saturday evening, and a Setanta park/street-O at Shankill on Sunday (details here). Watch the IOA Forum for details of the Night-O on Saturday.
Remember: 3ROC AGM on Friday 7th February at Ballinteer St John’s GAA Club.
