This week’s Orienteering: August 27th 2014
Welcome back, everyone, after the summer. Our three events in the Phoenix Park went well and you can see the results on the “Results” page of this web site. Thanks to all who came and all who helped.
Welcome back to all our orienteering travellers who were running over the summer in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Italy, Norway, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Slovakia … particularly to Eoin McCullough who represented Ireland at the Junior World Championships in Bulgaria and the World University Championships in the Czech Republic, and Colm Moran who represented Ireland at the World University Championships.
This weekend we have two 3ROC runners on the Junior Home International team travelling to Oban in Scotland to take on England, Scotland and Wales: Clodagh Moran (W14) and Aidan McCullough (M14). Best of luck to you both!
At home this weekend the first of the Fingal Orienteers “scatter” events is at Newbridge House, near Donabate, on Sunday. These are mass-start events where you visit a certain number of controls in any order. Start at 12.00, registration from 11.00 am, three courses . See details here.
Our next 3ROC events are both on Three Rock, on September 27th and 28th: Mountain bike orienteering on Saturday and a Leinster League event on Sunday.
Some closing dates coming up: entries close on August 31st for the London City race on September 21st; Northern Ireland Championships on Saturday 4th October at Castle Saunderson in Co. Cavan. Details here.
MTBO series: there are four MTB-O events on September Saturdays in Leinster: 6th at Djouce, 13th at the Curragh, 20th at Saggart and 27th at Three Rock. Come and try mountain-bike orienteering!
