This week’s Orienteering – September 15th 2014
Two more good performances from Colm Moran (3rd) and Cian May (6th) at Saturday’s MTB-O event on the Curragh, a 16.8 km epic, with Caoimhe and Oisin May 2nd and 4th on the shorter course. Meanwhile in the Forest of Dean, in SW England, 3ROC’s Mary O’Connell and John McCullough were running on the Irish team in the Veteran Home International, unfortunately finishing in 4th place behind Wales.
This Saturday sees the third MTBO event, at Saggart, run by Ajax, with starts from 11 to 12.00. There should soon be more details on the Ajax web site here. On Sunday, Fingal have a scatter event at Malahide Castle, with a mass start at 12.00. See details here.
This weekend also has the London City race, with a few 3Rockers running, and the two-day Mourne Mountain Marathon where Eoin McCullough teams up with Ruairí Short for the B class, about 45 km over the two days.
On Saturday morning, don’t forget the free 5 km Parkruns at Marlay, St Anne’s Park, Griffeen Park and others at 09.30; club fitness training continues at Belfield on Monday and Thursday evening; circuits for orienteers at Stillorgan on Wednesday evening.
Remember we have SI cards available for 3ROC members to buy for the unbelievablly low price of €20.
Don’t forget to enter the Northern Ireland Championships (on Saturday October 4th) at Castle Saunderson, Co. Cavan. See details here on the Fermanagh Orienteers web site.
Finally, Máire Walsh is organising our first League event of the Autumn on Three Rock on Sunday 28th September and she’ll be looking for help, as will Justin and Una May who are staging the last Leinster MTBO event on Saturday 27th, also on Three Rock.
