3ROC News: 27th January 2015
This Saturday, Dublin by Night continues at Bushy Park, Terenure, where GEN stage the third event in the series. Start times are 6 to 7 pm only; two courses. See details here.
The following weekend is the DUO 40th Anniversary weekend with a relay at the Curragh on Saturday 7th and a Leinster League at Djouce on Sunday 8th. In between Dublin by Night continues on Saturday at Glendoo, where Ajax are staging the fourth event. Glendoo is an interesting open area of turf cuttings and bog off the Featherbed road above Glencree, where the Irish Relay Championships were run a few years ago. Not, perhaps, the most hospitable spot on a winter Saturday night, but it should be good orienteering and enjoyable. See last year’s map and courses here.
Well done to the 3ROC runners at Donadea last Sunday where Oisín and Caoimhe May finished 1st and 2nd on the Adventure course while Colm Moran and Cian May finished 1st and 3rd on the Medium course.
Club fitness training continues at Belfield on Monday and Thursday evenings.
Remember if you’re going to the Jan Kjellstrom O-Festival in the Lake District at Easter that the entry fee goes up after 31st January: see details here. It should be a fantastic event, with large numbers in every competition class and top quality terrain. There are already over 1000 entries to the JK.
The 3ROC AGM is on February 13th at Ballinteer St John’s GAA Club and our next events are at St Catherine’s Park, Lucan on March 1st and at the Pine Forest on March 29th. Last year we negotiated a reduction in the entry fee for the Pine Forest zipwire for any orienteers who brought their map along for 4 weeks after the event – maybe we can do it again? See ZipIt here for details.
We have SportIdent cards for sale to 3ROC members at a special rate, and IOA has some at €30 each too – not as cheap as 3ROC, but good value nonetheless.
That’s it for now – see you in the forest!
