3ROC News 4th February 2016
Unusual distractions at Fingal’s night event last Saturday at ALSAA – the Dublin Airport sports complex: big noisy things with bright lights kept coming in overhead, but the twisting and turning course kept the orienteers focussed.
A busy day on Saturday 6th with DUO’s sprint event around Trinity College, followed by a table quiz and then the final Dublin by Night event at Rockbrook Park School.
The DUO event starts near the Lincoln Place gate of the college from 12 to 2 pm with three courses of about 1.3, 2.3 and 3 km (straight line distance). These events are open to everyone, and are a lot of fun – bringing you to quiet parts of the college that you didn’t even know existed. Don’t be put off by the word “sprint” – come along and try it!
The table quiz afterwards is open to everyone and is in the Pavilion.
Later in the evening the Ajax DBN night event is at Rockbrook Park, Rathfarnham, starting from 6 to 7 pm. Some of the money raised will support boys from the school who are travelling to Mumbai to help in orphanages in June. Two courses of 2.1 and 4.4 km. See details here.
If you want to travel to Kilkenny on Sunday, WATO are staging a South east League event at Kilkenny Castle. The format is a “middle distance” event with three courses, longest 6.2 km. Details here.
The 3ROC AGM is on Friday 12th February at Ballinteer St John’s GAA club at 8 pm.
Entries for the 2016 Leinster Championships are now open. We’ll need all club members to help at the event but that doesn’t mean that you can’t all run.
