3ROC News 2nd March 2016
All set for our event in the Phoenix Park on Sunday 6th March: start from 11 to 1 pm at the Papal Cross. The three courses (about 2.5, 5 and 8 km) will use the western part of the Park. The short course is particularly suitable for beginners and is pretty buggy-friendly, with no climb.
The maps will have the courses and control descriptions pre-marked on them and we’ll use SportIdent electronic timing. Entry fees €6 for adults, €3 for children, students, unwaged and over-65’s. As this is an event to encourage newcomers to orienteering, there will be no charge for SI card hire.
Some good 3ROC runs last Sunday at Fingal’s league event at Castletown House: Cian May 1st on Light Green, his mother Una 4th on Blue and the two Johns, McCullough and Riordan, 2nd and 3rd on Green. No surprises with Cian and Una having good runs as they live on the map!
Leinster Championships entries are coming in, so remember to enter for the event on April 17th: entry fees go up on March 28th. Visit the LOC2016 page here. If you haven’t volunteered to help yet, contact us at 3roc@orienteering.ie to join the team.
JK Relays: We have three teams entered in the JK Relays in Yorkshire at Easter: Cian May, Aidan McCullough and Eoin Riordan in the 48- class, Caoimhe May, Cuan Riordan and Oisín May in the 40- class and Clodagh Moran, Una May and Clíona McCullough in the Women’s Short. If you’re going to the JK and would like to run on a club relay team, contact us if you’re not on this list.
Irish Relay Champs: If you’d like to be included in the 3ROC teams for IOC at Lismore, Co. Waterford, on the May Bank Holiday weekend, please contact 3roc@orienteering.ie to add your name to the list. Remember, the club pays relay team entry fees. Visit the IOC web page for event details and to enter the Championships here.
Running training on Monday and Thursday evenings at Belfield; Colleen Robinson circuits for orienteers in Stillorgan on Wednesdays.
See you in the forest!
