3ROC News 23rd April 2016

easter_eggHappy Easter everyone! 3ROC are off to the 50th Jan Kjellstrom O-Festival (“the JK”) in Yorkshire this weekend – about 20 3ROC members are joining more than 3000 other orienteers taking part. Read about the origins of the JK here.

When we get back it will be straight down to Wexford for the WATO Sprint Relay at the JFK Arboretum near New Ross on Saturday 2nd April and the Leinster League event at Kilmore Quay on Sunday 3rd April. Fantastic dunes – bigger than Bull Island but not as high or as rough as some other sand dune areas, and only two hours drive from Dublin: it’s motorway as far as Camolin.

See you there!

Don’t forget to enter the Leinster Championships before Monday 28th to get the cheapest rate. See  here.

If you’re staying in Ireland the only organised orienteering (apart from permanent courses) is the two Bishopstown events in Co. Cork, on Sunday at Corrin Hill, Fermoy, and Monday at Liss Ard Estate, Skibbeereen.

The news from Yorkshire is that most of the snow has gone from the JK area at Kilnsey for Sunday where the M21E course is 20.1 km with 645 metres climb and 36 controls on open limestone moorland.
