3ROC News 20th November 2019
This Sunday’s orienteering brings us back to Fauna Wood near Donard in Co.Wicklow, where Fingal have revived the old map, last used back in the 80’s. Courses run from 2.1 km Yellow to 9.7 km Brown, including the experimental Short Green at 3 km. Registration opens at 10.30 and starts are from 11 to 1, but courses close at 2.30. See the full details here. Juniors – make sure you have a chat with Anton Hallor after your run on Sunday – the Swede who is currently working on orienteering development with IOA.
There are deer in the forest so beware of ticks and the possibility of infection (read about Lyme disease on the IOA website here).
Also on Sunday is the 6th urban event in the Armagh area, OCOUL6 (“Orchard County Orienteering Urban League”) at Portadown. These look like a lot of fun and you can see details here. Maybe you got a taste for urban orienteering last Sunday in Fethard?
Last Sunday’s event at Hellfire Wood saw Cuan Riordan 8th on the Long course and Ieva Jonauskyte 8th on the Medium – well done to you both! See results and routes here.
Training continues on Monday and Thursday evening at Belfield, with circuits on Tuesday in Stillorgan.
