3ROC Juniors Run Up
Good luck to two 3ROC juniors, Eoin and Cliona McCullough, who have been selected to run on the Irish team in the Senior Home International in Scotland this weekend. Eoin, a second year M18, has just returned from Portugal where he was running a 3000 metre steeplechase race with Clonliffe Harriers in the European Club Junior Championships. In a tight finish he was edged into 3rd place by four hundredths of a second, despite a bad fall in the early stages of the race.
His sister, Cliona, a first year W18, joins CorkO’s Niamh Corbett, a fellow W18, on the Irish W20 team. Clíona will miss out on her usual hockey and camogie commitmernts this weekend to represent Ireland against England, Scotland and Wales in the forest.
Realistically the Irish can hope to beat only the Welsh, as the English and Scots tend to lead the field. The relay race on Saturday is at Craig a Barns, used for JK2012, with the individual at Errochty, near Pitlochry, which was used for a Veteran Home International a few years ago. This event is part of the celebration the organising club STAG’s 25th anniversary celebrations.
