3ROC News 2nd March 2017
Well, a very wet day in Cavan last Sunday at Fingal’s Leinster League event at Deerpark, Virginia, but Colm Moran managed 2nd on the Brown course, Aidan McCullough 5th on the Blue (ahead of five other runners also on the 96th minute). Colm was in the lead up to Control 15 and would have won but he lost 4 minutes to winner Shane Lynch on Control 16 (see their route on the left – Colm in red, Shane in blue). It was great to run in a forest for a change, and planner Dave Richardson made good use of the area, so it was definitely worth the trip. You can see all the results and runners’ routes here.
Another travelling day this Sunday – the closest orienteering is WatO’s South East League event at the JFK Arboretum near New Ross, Co. Wexford. No detailed information yet but you could check out Waterford Orienteers here. Start times 11 to 1 pm.
Entries for the Leinster Championships on April 7th have opened. The competition is at Brockagh, near Laragh, Co. Wicklow. See details here. Cheapest entry before 19th March.
Entries for the Irish Championships on the May Bank Holiday weekend are also open. See details here. Please contact 3rockoc@gmail.com if you’d like to be included on a club Relay team for the Relay Championships on May 1st.
Back to Wicklow on March 12th for the CNOC Leinster League event at Scarr, near Glenmacnass, with the Junior time trial and training the day before in the Phoenix Park.

Remember to keep an eye on the 3ROC Facebook page here for all the latest news from 3ROC and around the world. You can read about Coillte’s plans to cut down the forest at Three Rock: naturally we are not in favour of this but they didn’t ask us what we thought.
See you in the forest (if it’s still there)!
