3ROC Orienteering News October 2019
The Northern Ireland Championships are at Cassy Water, near Rostrevor, Co. Down on Saturday, with limited entry on the day if you haven’t entered already. The event includes the annual Junior Home International, so good luck to the two 3ROC representatives on the team, Cuan Riordan (M16) and Aidan McCullough (M18). The JHI features an individual race on Saturday and a relay on Sunday at Donard Forest, Newcastle. The big question every year is – will Ireland beat Wales?
Next weekend we have GEN running a Leinster League event at Emo Court, near Portlaoise, Co. Laois on Sunday 20th, with an IOA “Major Events” conference nearby on Saturday 19th. Every year this gives the organisers of events like the Irish Championships an opportunity to pass on their knowledge and experience to others, particularly to the clubs running major events the following year. Next June there will be a Leinster multi-day event and 3ROC will be involved.
The Connacht Championships are at Union Wood, Collooney, Co. Sligo on October 27th, the Sunday of the Bank Holiday weekend and the day of the Dublin Marathon. Entries are open at Fabian4. See details here. The early bird entries close(d) on October 11th.
Training continues elsewhere as well: running at Belfield on Monday and Thursday evening (free) and circuits in Stillorgan with Colleen Robinson on Tuesday evening at St Brigid’s Church Hall, Stillorgan. Cost of circuits is €10 adult / €5 student/unemployed/OAP. See location map here.
