Next weekend’s orienteering – March 23/24

From a famine last weekend to a feast this weekend: a choice of good competitions in Munster, Leinster and Ulster. Ajax’s Leinster Spring Series event on Dublin’s Bull Island on Sunday will be the main attraction for 3ROCkers, on a 1:5000 scale map showing the intricate dunes. Details of the event are here. In Munster the last of the Junior Squad fund-raiser Campus Sprint Series is at University College, Cork on Saturday, followed by a night-O at Knockreer Estate in Killarney that evening, and a Munster League at Muckross forest, Killarney, on Sunday, doubling as the Irish Student Championships and also as a qualification race for the Junior World Championships in the Czech Republic in July.

Saturday also sees the postponed LVO event on the dunes at Tyrella, near Dundrum, Co. Down.

In schools orienteering, the Leinster Secondary Schools Championships is at Hellfire Woods on Wednesday. Mary Healy and her regular band of helpers (including a number of 3ROCkers) would welcome volunteers.
