Orienteering- 21/22 September

This weekend’s local orienteering is GEN’s event at Cabinteely Park on Sunday. Further afield, some 3Rockers are going to run the 6th London City orienteering race on Sunday, with more than 800 others.

The race starts on the Isle of Dogs in the docklands and runs around Canary Wharf and other places we’ve heard of, across the river from Greenwich. On Saturday there’s an UltraSprint in Victoria Park, with three 1 km courses to be run, including a section in a man-made maze, before the grand finale with start times decided by your performance in the first three races. if you mispunch you won’t be disqualified but you’ll have a 30 second penalty added to your running time for every wrong control. Sounds like fun!

Don’t forget to enter the Northern Ireland Championships on 12th October. at Meelmore in the Mournes, and don’t forget to come to our Leinster Autumn Series event at Carlingford on Sunday 29th September. We’re starting from Glenmore on the west side of Slieve Foy. The event also includes the Senior Home International, starrting before the Leinster event.

Volunteers are still welcome, particularly anyone able to take in controls afterwards!
