This weekend’s orienteering: February 23/24
The Irish Junior Squad are running the second of four Campus Sprint events at Dublin City University on Saturday afternoon. Starts are from 3 pm to 5 pm but don’t leave it too late in case it gets dark of they run out of maps as it’s likely to be a popular one. Last Saturday’s race had nearly 60 on the 2.7 kn course and almost 20 on the 2 km shorter one. DCU Sprint Event details are here.
The Campus league is best two of four events so you can still run DCU and then TCD a week later, without having to go to Cork for the last one. Buses 4, 9 and 13 stop outside DCU on Ballymun Road; buses 11 and 44 (all the way from Enniskerry!) stop very close by. See the Dublin Bus web site here.
Try it – you’ll enjoy it!
On Sunday it’s back to the Wicklow Hills for CNOC’s event at Kanturk Mountain, off the Sally Gap to Laragh road. The top of Kanturk Mountain often features on events here for the longer courses, and it’s well worth the run up to find surprisingly runnable ground with quite complex (i.e. confusing!) contours. See details on the CNOC web site here.
