This week’s orienteering Dec 9-15
Well, actually, there isn’t a whole lot happening this week in Leinster, except the League Prizegiving at Base Camp in Abbey Street, Dublin on Thursday, followed by an important meeting to restart the Leinster Orienteering Council which had become dormant. Looking forward at the fixture list for the first part of 2014, there are very few conventional events in the Dublin and Wicklow area: there are night events, Leinster events in Monaghan and so on, but in January the only “normal” orienteering in Leinster is on the 19th in Donadea and February isn’t much better, so maybe the meeting this week will generate some enthusiasm and some events for us to go to.
Sunday 15th December has two events in Cork, a Munster League event at Kilworth Camp (CorkO) and a Bishopstown event at Rochestown Woods.
3ROC fitness training continues at Belfield at 6.30 on Monday and Thursday.
Well done Colm Moran, winner of the DCU Sprint event last Saturday, and Eoin McCullough (2nd), while Eoin’s M12 brother Aidan finished 3rd on the Short course. Colm went on to finish 3rd in the first Dublin by Night event that evening at Carrickgolligan.
3ROC events coming up are our annual St Stephen’s Day score event on Three Rock (Ticknock) on 26th December and a night event in the Phoenix Park on Saturday 4th January. After that it’s another night-O at Three Rock on 15th February and a Leinster Spring Series league event on our new map of the Pine Forest on 30th March, so there’s plenty for you to volunteer for! You can’t leave it all to the Committee to do, so please volunteer to help.
