This week’s orienteering: January 20-27
After a big improvement in Saturday’s weather, Setanta Orienteers ran an interesting event, No. 4 in the Dublin by Night series: wet underfoot at Massy’s Estate but with clear starlit skies. The course had several loops, making good use of the small upper part of the area across from Hellfire Wood. Our own Colm Moran was first on the long course with Eoin McCullough 4th; Mary O’Connell won the short course. Results are here. The “Long” course can’t have been the 4 km is was quoted as: Colm ran it in 21.43!
Next weekend’s night event is Fingal’s DBN5 in Blanchardstown on the Tolka Valley Park map. Details here. Unfortunately Leinster is again a “No-O area” on Sunday, but some 3Rockers are heading to the Edinburgh “Big Weekend” with three races over three days – see here.
In the meantime , visit The Irish Orienteer’s annual preview of big, foreign or just interesting events here.
